Driven by the idea of wanting to contribute to the society, the Rotaract Club of the Institute of Management, Nirma University, organized Mahadaan – The Blood Donation Camp, 2018. The Rotaract Club organizes the Blood Donation Camp every year with a different blood bank. This year, Rotaract, in collaboration with Prathama Blood Centre, held the camp on the 31st of July in the premises of Nirma University. The zeal showcased by the students for the cause of the event was a testament to the “joy of giving”. Students from various branches of the university showed up to contribute their bit.
The organization of the camp was carried out in a meticulous fashion. After getting their forms filled, the donors underwent a mini-health check-up, which included everything from their weight to their hemoglobin levels. The doctors provided the donors with health tips, and also ensured that anyone not matching the required health criteria did not donate. The volunteers and organizers were encouraging the nervous donors by talking with them and clicking photos. All in all, the camp was a huge success, with a total of 263 participants donating blood, potentially saving the lives of 789 people in need.
