In India, where the population is of billions of people, many go on an empty stomach. So on the occasion of Republic Day, members of Mavericks, the Social Committee of the BBA-MBA Integrated Programme decided to help them by planning a food drive. In this noble cause, the committee members were joined by volunteers who made paper bags to keep food items like biscuits, chocolates, bananas, fruit juices and theplas. Mavericks decided to use paper bags keeping in mind the environmental hazards caused by using plastic bags.
The drive started at Nirma University and went to the slums surrounding it and some areas in Bodakdev as well. Along with food, the students also distributed clothes which they had collected from their batch mates. On receiving the food packets and the clothes, children’s faces beamed with joy and the amount of happiness that it gave to the volunteers could not be measured in terms of words. The event ended at 12.30 pm with some beautiful memories that the volunteers will cherish for a lifetime.
