The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture. It seeks to foster the traditional Indian values and to generate awareness of the cultural traditions and heritage of India. In order to achieve its goals, SPICMACAY organizes concerts, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, informal discussions, and talks by eminent scholars and thinkers.

Now, SPIC MACAY’s Ahmedabad chapter was about to add another feather in its cap on a muggy Friday Afternoon. It was time for The Grand SPIC MACAY 2016 and venue was auditorium of Institute of Management, Nirma University. The excitement among students was already scaling new heights as they were about to witness a world-class line up in front of them. The artists include Rupak Kulkarni (Panditji), Mandar Bhamre (Flute) and Sapan Anjariya (Accompanying  Artist). Mandar Bhamre is with Panditji for 10 years now.

The Program started with Dr. S. Garimella, Director of IMNU delivering the speech about “Ragas”. Then various faculties explained about Indian Classical Music and interacted with the audience. Then the stage was set for Panditji who enthralled everyone present there with his performance with Flute. Sapan was equally good with Tablas and the audience was mesmerized by the coordination between them. The whole atmosphere was chock-a-block at auditorium and students had packed the space by coming in large numbers. And they were truly entertained by some high class performances.
