There was a sense of anticipation and excitement among the students when they gather for the first institute seminar of the year on a murky Friday evening. The speaker for the occasion was Ms. Sanju Thakur. She is Zonal HR head for Future Retail Limited. She delivered interesting views on the topic of ‘Emotional Intelligence’.

She started with various exercises with the students for how to keep themselves happy. He insisted that happiness is the greatest sense of satisfaction for a human being. Then she defined emotional intelligence and told the importance of the same in modern day business tactics. She emphasised on the fact that corporate are now giving the same importance to this part of intelligence during their recruitment processes. She used various videos to embark the learning on the students. She particularly highlighted the fact that parents play a very vital part in developing emotional etiquettes among the children.

She labelled the emotional intelligence as the capacity of individuals to recognize their own, and other people’s emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. She also made the students understand the important role of human resources by explaining various tools and techniques. She told about how to perceive, use, understand and manage the emotions going forward in the professional career.

Overall, it was the perfect launch pad for the first year students to start their journey of business administration and a great learning curve.
