After the Diwali break, juggernaut had to start with a Sportzzz Comm event. Yes, it did and how! The gentlemen’s game was on show and the stage was set for an intersection tussle. However the scenes were quite different from what was going on at the beautiful Adelaide Oval in first ever day/night test. Here it was early morning games and players had to deal with some early winter cold. The inaugural match was played between Barbarians and Airavats. And come match day, Barbarians were ready to go and it was to be seen in their performance. Batting first, Airavats just could not get a hold of what Barbarians were dishing out to them. With Aman Vijay picking up 4 crucial wickets, Barbarians just rolled over Airavats to throw them out of the competition. In the next match, it was a walk in the park for Nawaabz against Shehzaade as they took the game by a massive 65 runs margin. The Day 2 started with a match between Daivats and Achilleans in which Daivats made light work of Achilleans and picked up points with more than 3 overs to spare. The next match was between Beacons and Stallions. It was a highly entertaining encounter with Beacons managing to club together a win after they put on a healthy 113 on the board. The margin was of 16 runs. Then came the match of the tournament so far. Crusaders chased down a target of 100 runs set by Dronas in what was to be a nail biting afternoon finish with just 2 balls to go. Day 3 was having only an eliminator on its timeline. It was battle between the juniors of Barbarians and Crusaders. Crusaders meant business right from the start and their bowlers bowled with venom to restrict Barbarians to a mere 64 runs. Crusaders chased the total down easily with Prasad hitting 35 runs to book their place for the semi finals. The first semi final was played between Beacons and Daivats. Beacons made the total of 101 runs thanks to a swashbuckling 71 runs innings of Aakash Kamdar. He simply put on an exhibition. In reply, Daivats started very well but in the end ran short of steam to give the match to Beacons. The 2nd semi final match was played between Nawaabz and Crusaders. Nawaabz were too clinical on the day and made 116 runs batting first with the help of 47 runs knock from Kunal. Crusaders were never into it really and once they lost both their openers early in the chase, then it was only formality remained in the match. In the end Nawaabz took the match to give themselves a chance to play beacons for the silverware. The final match was played between easily the two best teams of the competition. Nawaabz hammered the Beacons bowlers to all corners of the ground to put on a massive 134 runs on the board. With such a huge back up behind them, all Nawaabz bowlers needed to do was to put the balls into right area without trying too much and they did exactly that. So, it was Nawaabz who clinched the trophy with impressive display all throughout the tournament. Nawaabz are the newly crowned champions of Cric8 2015.
