Janmashtami at IMNU

Krishna Janmashtami, the annual commemoration of the birth of Lord Krishna, falls on the eighth day or Ashtami of the Krishna Paksha of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. Like every year, this auspicious occasion was celebrated with immense fervor and festivity at Institute of Management, Nirma University on the 5th of September, 2015. The event was organized by the Cultural Committee of IMNU.
The Matki-Phod venue –(as they say it )the Hostel-G compound, became abuzz with everyone joining the fun in the morning and the DJ playing music numbers to the fun mood. Gulaal and water streams filled the air, and then started the MatkiPhod at 9:30 a.m., one team after another testing its mettle. It was a great moment of bonding among all the students. A never-say-die spirit was seen when the towers collapsed but kept getting rebuilt soon again. The icing on the cake was when the “Saral” kids joined in. The height of the Haandi was lowered; the kids were carefully carried by some students while all others surrounded and cheered for them. Joy knew no bounds when they broke the Haandi and the whole compound acknowledged their feat.
Celebration was not yet over. With sunset came the arena of sanctity when Janmashtami Pooja was organised. Devotees worshipped Balgopal with Aarti, Bhog, and by rocking his little cradle.
For many, the day turned out to be one of the best days at IMNU. Thus, the wonderful Janmashtami celebrations came to a happy end leaving us with countless memories to cherish and bringing our IMNU family a little more closer.
