HUMAN RESOURCE CONCLAVE
The Human Resource Conclave , 2014 organised by Institute of Management , Nirma University in association with the NHRD Network, Ahmedabad Chapter, commenced on September 27, 2014, with the theme ‘Unleashing Human Potential in Challenging Times’.
The Guest of Honour, Dr S K Nanda (IAS), Add. Chief Secretary (Govt. of Gujarat) enlightened the students of IMNU with his experiences. He urged the students to be optimistic and not get easily deterred by any externalities. Mr Rajeev Vastupal, Chairman and Managing Director, Rajiv Petrochemicals Pvt Ltd inaugurated the session. He emphasized that human capital is a source of competitive advantage and enumerated a couple of strategies to deal with the problems that arise due to a burgeoning virtual workforce.
The theme for the first session was “Leveraging Human Potential: The Business Imperative”. Mr Ketan Bhagat, Principal Partner, Alkemist HR Enablers LLP, introduced the speakers for the session, stated how the advent of technology and competition has changed the world. The first speaker, Mr Biswajit Roy, General Manager HRD, Indian Oil Corporation Limited said that the current demographics are such that the world cannot run without Indian expertise. The next speaker of the session Mr. Rupak Agarwal, Vice President Operations, Godrej Properties Limited urged the student to benchmark at the highest level and to take risks.
The theme for the second session was “Aligning Generational Expectations: Challenges and Opportunities” which was chaired by Mr. YPS Kanwar. The first speaker of the session Mr Vasant Rao, unit HR head, Kovaya (Aditya Birla Group) suggested how students could overcome generational differences. The generations have evolved from traditionalists to baby boomers, followed by GenX, milennials and nexters. The session was taken forward by Mr Saurabh Nigam, VP HR, Snapdeal.com where he enlightened the students with facts about GenY.
The concluding and the fourth session was chaired by Dr K K Verma, Management consultant and founder member, NHRDN Ahmedabad chapter with the theme, “Creative Solutions for Business Innovation”. Mr.Shakun Khanna, Executive Consulting Head, Smarter workforce, IBM emphasized on innovation. He stated that innovation is an effort to create purposeful,focused change in an enterprise’s economic or social potential.
The conclave was a great success and categorically instilled a charizma in the future managers along with giving them insights of how to manage one of the most crucial factors of an organization called“Human Resource”
