As a part of the Institute Seminar Series, the institute was graced by the presence of Mr. Amitabh Srivastava, Head Securities and Settlements at Barclays Bank. He addressed the audience on the topic- ‘Investment Banking-A Big Picture’. He began by stating that in the present times the industry has a myopic view with a lack of analysis. He then explained the entire flow of the investment process throwing light on each step, starting from the role of regulators in the system. He further went on to describe the investors, various markets and the products available for investment.
He also explained how arbitrage provided a risk free ROI in the system. He emphasized on the need for training and authority and the delivering of service on time. He then described the process of asset settlement and asset servicing. Towards the end he mentioned the power that a good management can have over the functioning of the organization and how it can turn around things. Lastly he discussed about the various opportunities that lie ahead for MBA graduates. Some of them include traders, arbitrage traders, research analyst, risk management, process improvement, settlement analyst, business analyst, project manager etc.
